This tune is built to help improve economy during normal everyday driving. I have spent countless hours developing this tune and testing for the results. Normal highway driving has shown a 15-20% increase in miles per gallon. These results were also possible with help of a better free flowing exhaust. Typically with no other modifications to your truck and tune only, we were averaging about a 10-12% MPG gain. This applies to all year Duramax equipped trucks 01 and up. We have seen best and most impressive results in the LBZ and LMM (with DPF removed) models. Results will vary depending on driving style, modifications, weight, road topography and weather conditions. Plan on very least a 10%+ gain in MPG.
This tow tune has been developed for the Duramax truck that see's moderate to heavy towing weight. This tune has been tested across the board for fuel economy, exhaust gas temperature, engine coolant temperature, transmission temperature, and quality of ride (shifting & down-shifting). Most testing was done with 8-14k trailer loads, and a variety of areas in the country, including mountain ranges. This tunes horsepower and torque is determined by the customers typical load. It is built to increase power on hills, power from take off, and general power increase to hold transmission from 'hunting' for a gear.
We also offer a "Turbo Brake" feature that can be added into the tune. What this does is when you descend a hill and are off the throttle, the turbo will go into the programmed mode I write into the tune and slow the engine speed down via turbo pressure. This is typically a expensive mechanical modification that can now be done with ECM programming for a fraction of the cost (not avail for LB7).
